Camden Council’s £35m investment into the area around London’s Tottenham Court Road aims to dramatically enhance urban public space. The project reclaims road space for 0.7ha of new parks, squares and incidental pocket plazas and the re-imagining of 0.3 hectares of existing space. Removing the one-way systems and reducing traffic on Tottenham Court Road and Gower Street. The planting plan includes over 1,000m2 of new beds and borders.

Bishops Square lies between Bishopsgate and Old Spitalfields Market, part of a £168m development in the area that includes 3,700sqm of retail space, 72,000sqm of offices, along with apartments, community facilities, cafés and restaurants. The space combines retail and food kiosks, a reimagined shopping street, and three landscaped areas with bespoke street furniture, double-sided and platform benches in the Lawns and a sheltered outdoor performance space.

Eddington Hotel is part of Cambridge University’s 150-hectare Eddington development. The 180-key Turing Locke apart-hotel and the 150-room Hyatt Centric hotel create a courtyard configuration inspired by academic quadrangles, featuring a vibrant garden at its core. This space, designed by dRMM, serves as a communal area for hotel residents and the wider community, promoting relaxation.

Fronting Euston Road, the 5.26ha Regents Place is a mixed use campus, with a focus on office space, owned and operated by British Land. Local communities were engaged to develop a design which incorporated significant public areas of new planting, paving and street furniture to create a habitable, attractive public realm where people can sit. A £200,000+ Regent’s Place Community Fund also supports 30 community projects across 15 local organisations.

Union Terrace Gardens is intended as a catalyst for further regeneration across 30 potential investment sites in Aberdeen. The £28.3m project equipped the sunken park with extensive seating, new lighting features, commissioned artworks, 122,000 plants, more trees, and the reinstatement of a planted city crest. The 2.5ha site has hosted various festivals and events that celebrate biodiversity and aesthetics of the gardens.

The Green Spine is conceived as a new linear park that creates a pedestrian focused route running north-south along the Church Street Masterplan, linking Lisson Gardens and Broadley Gardens. Part of the Futures Plan, the park includes play areas, flexible spaces for local events, garden areas and fitness trails, providing public realm for local use.

The Glade of Light memorial commemorates the 22 lives lost in the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017. The landscape features 28 semi-mature native trees and replaces 40% of the previous hard landscaping with biodiverse planting. Created with input from community engagement and consultation, natural elements create a tranquil environment.

Pound’s Park sits at the centre of Heart of the City, a new £500 million development funded by Sheffield City Council. The park features play spaces and a meadow steppe and woodland planting of 70 species and 39 new trees. The mix of native and non-native species provides habitats for wildlife and adaptability to accommodate a changing climate.
