Seven Sisters Market first opened around 50 years ago, however, following its closure in 2020 due to health and safety concerns, surveys found the building to be in a dangerous condition preventing it from reopening. Since then, Places for London has worked with the traders and London Borough of Haringey to bring the much-loved market back to life ensuring that the community affected by the closure were part of the works throughout
What Goes Around is a bandstand on Mitcham Fair Green. It hosts music, events, performances, storytelling and drawing workshops and gatherings during the summer months in the heart of Mitcham. it is fully demountable and is designed to be stored over the winter and re-installed each spring. What Goes Around stands on the site of a former bandstand removed in the 1960s and re-imagines the bandstand as a popular performance pavilion for the twenty first century.
The Carpenters Estate Meanwhile Use Framework supports the activation of the regeneration area, supporting a connected neighbourhood during a 15-year build-out. Rooted in community priorities and circular economy principles, it delivers activations from the outset, from a train carriage cafe and co-designed play spaces to community gardens and a new community hub, focusing on reclaimed materials and resident-led programming.
